In September 2002 I completed my open water PADI certification for scuba diving. I was so excited by the experience I went on to complete the advanced open water certification that same week.
If you're thinking, "So what?" then maybe you need to know a little more about me. Since 1979 I have had twentyfive knee surgeries. My left knee was replaced twice, and my right isn't far behind. The idea of being confined in a rubber suit scared the breath out of me. I'm also a little bit older than most people that get into scuba diving.
What I have going for me is a desire to excel at whatever I do. I have accumulated over 200 dives since then, and two of those years I missed out diving totally with work obligations.
What's next?
It's hard to say where I will end up. I love Honduras where I can get in six dives a day. Although I hated the long flight to Thailand, I'm ready to do it all over again. Did I hear someone say Yap or Palau?
